Leadership Development Opportunities

There are a number of external organizations (outside of Creighton Prep) that provide student leadership and career development opportunities to students. These opportunities allow students to hone leadership and management skills, explore different trades and industries and network with others. Each of these programs serve different age ranges and have different application processes and deadlines. The Student Support Services team can help in providing more information on these programs and guidance during the application process. Youth Leadership Network

The Youth Leadership Network is open to all Omaha-area youth in grades 8 through 12 who want to grow as leaders and are interested in preventing alcohol-related harms in our community with the skills they develop. UNK Pre-Law Day

On Monday, October 23rd, the Department of Political Science will be hosting UNK Pre-Law Day. At the event, students will learn about the UNK Pre-Law program and the various opportunities and benefits associated with it. Specifically, students will have the chance to interact with current students, faculty and local attorneys, hear about potential scholarship opportunities and participate in a simulated classroom experience. Teachers and family are also welcome to attend.

2024 Leadership Challenge Event

The 2024 Leadership Challenge Event (LCE) will be held February 29- March 1, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas at Washburn University. The leadership development program consists of a half day educational leadership orientation and a full-day leadership competition. This event provides students with opportunities to problem solve real-life challenges that will help them grow as leaders. Early bird registration starts Oct 1, 2023 and it is $500 to register your team by going to bit.ly/LCETeamRegistration.

Registration includes: Four hotel rooms, all materials needed for the orientation and competition, snacks throughout the event, banquet on February 29, 2024 with keynote speaker, breakfast on March 1, 2024 and an awards celebration.

Nebraska HOBY Youth Leadership (sophomores)

Nebraska HOBY is excited to announce leadership opportunities to 10th grade students from the Omaha Metro. These student ambassadors participate in facilitated dialogue and abilities- based workshops to develop awareness of their leadership strengths and an understanding of their leadership values. This one weekend event at a HOBY seminar unlocks a student's leadership potential and helps them gain confidence to make a positive impact on the world around them.

Youth Leadership Network - Omaha Metro

Project Extra Mile's youth leadership initiatives involve young people who want to make a difference in their communities by challenging the adult world regarding excessive alcohol consumption, which includes underage drinking. Youth leadership is critical in achieving sustainable and permanent change in communities.

Audience/Grade/Class: Youth in grades 8-12 in the Omaha-Metro area are welcome to join Youth Leadership Network (YLN).
Dates: 1/22/24 7-8 p.m., 2/12/24 7-8 p.m., 3/18/24 7-8 p.m., 4/15/24 7-8 p.m. Additional meetings possible based on need.
Location: The program is free and held once a month at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center on the University of Nebraska- Omaha Dodge Campus.
