Operation Others - Ways to Help

Greetings Friend of Operation Others,

Each December since 1967 students from Omaha's Catholic High Schools have been providing food assistance to materially-poor families.

This year, O. O. plans to deliver food to over 1,200 Omaha area families. Each food bag will contain 20 food items, including fresh milk, bread, produce, a turkey or chicken, cereal, peanut butter, canned tuna, fruit and a Christmas card. In order to provide assistance to our neighbors in need, we humbly ask for your help.

Please consider helping us in the following ways:

Eat pancakes – On Sunday, November 12, the St. Leo's Knights of Columbus will host a pancake breakfast to benefit O. O. The breakfast will be held in St. Leo's Parish Center (1920 N. 102 St.) after the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Masses. Cost will be $7 for adults, $3 for children and $22 for families. The breakfast will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, potatoes, fruit, coffee and/or orange juice.

Donate money – Please consider sending a $50 check made out to Operation Others to Creighton Prep 7400 Western Ave. Omaha, NE 68114-1878 or donating to @OperationOthers via Venmo. Monetary donations will be used to purchase fresh produce, milk and the food we cannot collect.

Donate turkeys – On Saturday, November 18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., we will collect frozen turkeys of any brand/size in Creighton Prep's west lot (7400 Western Ave.), Skutt Catholic's front lot (3131 S 156 St.), and outside of GOLFTEC (362 N. 114 St., Suite 362). We hope to collect 1,000 birds!

Make Christmas cards – We include Christmas cards in each food bag to bring messages of joy and goodwill to those we serve. If you and your family or others would like to help, please send/deliver your handmade cards to Prep's west entrance by Friday, December 8. This has been a great way for scout troops, grade schoolers, sports teams and clubs to provide some joy and blessings of joy to others.

Deliver food – Food will be delivered on Saturday, December 16. Please join us at Prep for Mass at 8 a.m. and to deliver food bags beginning around 9 a.m. until finished (usually around 2 p.m.).

Stay connected – Follow Operation Others on Twitter or Instagram for updates and Delivery Weekend weather-related notices.

Thank you for your continued support of O. O.'s efforts to make Christmas a bit brighter for our neighbors!

Sincerely,

Jerry Kinney
