Dear Friend of Prep,

Welcome to the Creighton Prep website where you will find information on much of what we do here at Prep in our mission to form men of faith, scholarship, leadership and service in the Catholic and Jesuit tradition.

It has been this way since 1878 when Edward and Mary Lucretia Creighton entrusted their wealth to the Jesuits in order to create a school for boys that was Catholic, academically rigorous, accessible to those who showed potential and, most of all, affordable. And, though the students, the people and the brick-and-mortar of the school have changed over time and continue to do so, our goal as a community remains to offer the finest educational experience to the academically-qualified young men of Omaha regardless of their economic status.

Since I became president in March 2015, much has changed in the service of these aspirations. With a very generous gift from the Heider family, we welcomed a small group of area sixth graders in summer 2016 to prepare them for success in high school through the Heider Academic & Leadership Achievement Program. This is an exciting initiative that will involve Loyola Scholars from sixth through eighth grade as well as our faculty, staff and high-achieving Prep students in summer and fall sessions of work. To read more about this project, visit www.creightonprep.org/loyolascholars.

As noted in the cover story in the fall 2016 Creighton Prep magazine, the other recent new beginnings at the school have included a lunchtime dining service with fresh made food, the welcoming of principal Jim Bopp, extensive renovations to the Skinner Chapel and upgrades to the field, bullpens and batting cages at Jurgensen Park. In addition, we have incorporated new campus signage at 72nd & Western Avenue and at the entrance to the east and west parking lots. We have also constructed a parking lot just north of the school that adds more than 140 spaces for student, faculty and staff.

As I work with the Board of Trustees and other Prep constituents on strategic planning for the future, I am reminded of how grateful I am to all of Prep’s friends for their support. I am also mindful of Pope Francis’ words that "the main element at a Jesuit school is that students will learn to be magnanimous. What does being magnanimous mean? It means having a great heart, having greatness of mind; it means having great ideals, the wish to do great things to respond to what God asks of us. Be men and women for and with others: true champions in the service of others.”

May God bless you, and God bless Creighton Prep.
