Chapter of the National Honor Society
The National Honor Society is dedicated to combining academic excellence and service in order to instill ethical leadership in the students of today, the leaders of tomorrow.
Eligibility for National Honor Society is open to members of the junior and senior class who have demonstrated good character and scholarship and who show evidence of leadership skills and a concern for social justice through service.
Criteria for invitation and application process:
3.7 GPA at the end of first semester of Junior or Senior year.
Fewer than 20 demerits and/or 6 jugs accumulated during the first semester of junior or senior year.
Approval by the Dean of Students in regards to academic integrity.
Invitations to eligible students will be sent out at the beginning of the third quarter.
A committee reviews applications for evidence of leadership and service.
As a service organization, NHS members serve the school as ambassadors for major school events, and Peer Tutoring. We also organize a fundraiser each year with proceeds going to a charity chosen by the executive board. In order to maintain status and fulfill the service component of the national program, students will sign up in August of their senior year for various service requirements.
