Mid-Quarter Progress Reports Available Now
Late in the day on Monday, you will find mid-quarter progress reports available through PowerSchool. To check these reports:
Log in to PowerSchool.
Click on Grade History at left.
You will see a grade, an effort grade and possibly other comments from teachers
If you have questions or concerns about grades, please contact your son’s teacher.
PowerSchool and Canvas are excellent resources for monitoring student progress. Creighton Prep expects that parents are using these tools for this purpose. You can view your son’s grades at any time from the Grades and Attendance page in PowerSchool. Click on the actual grade for a breakdown of assignments. Canvas serves as a resource for what is going on in class.
PSAT Scheduling Updates
Due to social distancing Creighton Prep will not be able to offer the PSAT 8/9 to freshmen on October 14 as originally planned. Only sophomores and juniors will test on this day. There will be no school for freshmen on October 14. Prep will offer an opportunity to take the PSAT 8/9 exam to freshmen on November 3 which is now a teacher workday. This is optional, not required. The PSAT 8/9 is a practice test to prepare students to take the PSAT their junior year. In the past Prep has used the test results to help us place students in courses as sophomores.
Please complete this form in order to register your son for this test. Please contact Mr. Tom Reinhart if you have any questions.
Mother-Son Mass – Sunday, October 11
Prep mothers, you are cordially invited to register for the Mother-Son Mass on Sunday, October 11 at 10:30 a.m. in the Heider Center. Like many other events, this year will look a little different. We will provide a safe environment with masks and social distancing required. Space for attendees will be somewhat limited. For those who choose not to attend in person, the event will be streamed online.
This special occasion for mothers and sons, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, will include a service concelebrated by members of Prep’s Jesuit community, music by the CP Men’s Choir, a student speaker and a mother speaker. Of particular concern to us is the student who may not have a mother at home. We encourage him to come with a sister, aunt, grandmother or another student and his mother.
MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER UPDATE
As we move towards the end of Suicide Prevention Month we take a look into a critical aspect of assessing risk. Read more about passive suicide ideation and how it affects individuals today. If you or your son needs any further information or assistance, please contact Kevin Kaminski.
RETREATS & FAITH
Junior Encounter Retreat - September 25-27
The first Junior Encounter Retreat of the school year will be held at Creighton Prep and will not include any overnight stays. All students making this retreat and their parents/guardians have received an email with more information and a request for parent/guardian participation. Please contact Mr. Jerry Kinney with questions.
Sophomore Pilgrimage - September 25
Sophomores scheduled to make this retreat have been contacted by Mr. Kinney. The group will meet at the Hitchcock Nature Center in Honey Creek, IA for a day spent reflecting on the Ignatian theme of finding God in all things. Contact Mr. Jerry Kinney for more information.
Homecoming Volunteers - October 17
Parent volunteers are needed to help with our #CovidHomecoming event. We have secured Johnny Beehner, nationally known comedian and Prep ‘98 grad, to help us turn the Sullivan Commons into a Comedy Club. In order to provide this event free of charge to students and their dates, we are looking for volunteers to help serve desserts and beverages to the students and underwrite the costs as well. Save the date and look for a sign up link next week.
Football Watch Party Volunteers
Are you ready for some football? Watch parties resume tonight with Prep playing Lincoln Southeast. Pre-packaged snacks and a few chaperones are still needed. Contact Beth Kramer or use the Signup Genius.
Prep Family Association (PFA) Needs Your Help
The Signup Genius has been adjusted for the October 15 Ignatian Breakfast as well as the Faculty/Staff Appreciation gift bags. PFA announcements may also be found on the Prep Family Association Facebook page. This is a private group so please sign up to be added - it’s a great resource for all Prep parents!
PFA Fall Social - October 20
Save October 20 on your calendars for the PFA Fall Social. More details to come.
