Teach at Prep as a Full-Time Computer Science Faculty Member

Help shape the next generation of computer whizzes as a full-time computer science faculty member at Creighton Prep. You’ll teach college prep and AP computer science, coding, information technology and robotics courses, and even coach teams and mentor clubs in coding and robotics. You’ll also get to work in a highly professional environment with a great group of colleagues. Learn more and apply.


Looking for Loyola Scholars Summer Institute Teachers

The Loyola Scholars Academic Achievement & Leadership Program at Creighton Prep is currently accepting applications for Summer Institute teachers for June 2019.

We are looking for teachers in math, English/Language Arts and science for sixth-through-eighth-grade boys during mornings Monday through Friday from June 3-28. Compensation is competitive, offering $3,000 per subject area for teaching three sections – one section per grade level. Adjustments will be made if the candidate is not able to teach all three sections. Candidates with experience in either junior high or high school level teaching are preferred.

Vote Creighton Prep for the 2019 Omaha’s Choice Award

Help Creighton Prep four-peat in 2019 as the Omaha’s Choice Awards winner in the private high school category by voting in this year’s contest sponsored once again by the Omaha World-Herald.

Click HERE to vote for Prep as much as once per day using a single email address through Sunday, April 21. Thank you! The 2019 Omaha's Choice Awards winners will be announced in a special July 2019 section of the newspaper, and Prep is looking to extend a winning streak that began in 2016.


Host Family Needed for Two 10th Grade Boys for Fall 2019

ROKUS Education Link invites you to share your home, heart and traditions with two students who need host families for the 2019-2020 school year at Prep. They are Kevin Lee and Chris Kim.

Kevin is currently attending Concordia High School as a ninth grader. He is an excellent English speaker, very bright, smart and eager to learn, and Chris is an existing ninth grade student at Prep, so many of his classmates may already know him.

Hosting an exchange student is a rewarding experience! Your children will gain a broader perspective of another’s culture while learning more about geography, diversity and communication. Your family members will also become citizen diplomats in creating positive impressions of America and Americans.

Volunteer Opportunities


Donations and Volunteers Needed for Post Prom – Saturday, April 13

Post Prom will be held at the Amazing Pizza Machine (13955 S Plaza) on Saturday, April 13 from 11:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., and volunteers and donations are needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable evening for everyone. Thanks to a very successful Mom Prom, this event will be FREE to the young men and their dates, courtesy of the Prep Moms group.

Donate Household Items for a Refugee Family’s Home

Prep and Marian are working together to sponsor a Catholic Karenni refugee family that is being resettled in Omaha. We are collecting household items for the family, and will set up their new apartment after school on Wednesday, April 24. Click HERE to sign up to donate an item. All donations can be dropped off in Prep’s Campus Ministry Office by the end of the school day on April 24.

If your son would like to volunteer to help move furniture and household items after school on the 24th, please contact Mr. Dave Lawler. The family consists of mom, dad, a 10-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl.


Sign up for Eucharistic Adoration in the Skinner Chapel

Creighton Prep is in its sixth year of Eucharistic Adoration in the Skinner Chapel, and anyone is welcome to volunteer for an "hour of power" before the Blessed Sacrament.

Adoration takes place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. Click HERE to reach the CP Adoration 2018-2019 signup page where you can view the adoration schedule and sign up to participate. Participate in Beach BASH 2019 “Riding the Wave for 140 Years”


Beach BASH 2019 "Riding the Wave for 140 Years" will be held in the Heider Center at Creighton Prep on Saturday, April 27, just 15 days away as of Friday, April 12.

  • The monies raised during BASH are a key component in our ability to keep tuition affordable for everyone and to provide more than $2 million in financial assistance annually to approximately 45 percent of our students.

Bid During eBASH Until 11 p.m. Today

eBASH 2019, running now until 11 p.m. today (Friday, April 12), is your opportunity to participate in Beach BASH 2019 without leaving the comfort of your home. Click HERE to reach the eBASH site now!


Attend Beach BASH 2019 on Saturday, April 27

A key goal for this year's BASH is to have 900 Prep fans at the event, ready to bid in support of our students. You can help us reach that mark by purchasing an individual ticket, a table for family or a corporate table!

Individual tickets are $150 per person ($90 tax deductible), and young alums (Class of 1998 and later) can purchase tickets at $75 per alum plus guest ($15 tax deductible). Family tables of 10 are $1,500 and corporate tables start at $1,600. We're also happy to place you at a table if you don't have plans to fill your own. Click HERE to register now.


Buy or Sell Raffle Tickets

Our goal for this year's raffle is to generate ticket sales totaling $185,000 of the overall BASH net goal of $715,000 which will in turn provide full tuition financial assistance for 18 students at Prep. We have team captains and sellers, alumni class captains, super sellers, faculty, staff and students participating in the WE ARE PREP raffle sales campaign. Tickets are $100, 3 for $250, 7 for $500 or 15 for $1,000, and the grand prize for the winning ticket is $10,000! Contact Amy Knight at aknight@creightonprep.org to buy and/or sell tickets.


Underwrite the Event

Donate in advance of BASH to help underwrite the cost of the event or the expense for a Jesuit or faculty member to attend. This is another great way to support Prep. Click HERE to donate now.

Rosary for Prep – Today at 3 p.m.

Please join the Prep community in prayer for intentions including final exams, Prom, graduating seniors, and a safe summer for everyone at the Rosary for Prep today (Friday, April 12) at 3 p.m. in Memorial Plaza, located on the west side of the school building. If weather becomes a factor, the Rosary will be moved inside to the Sullivan Center.

Students, parents, Jesuits, alumni, faculty, staff and coaches will participate. Members of the Prep Choir will also provide inspirational music.

The Rosary for Prep is brought to you by CP Parents Praying with St. Ignatius


The Great Gatsby Prom Dance 2019 - Saturday, April 13

On Saturday, April 13, Prep will host its Prom Dance at the Lauritzen Gardens from 8:30-11:30 p.m. The event theme this year will be The Great Gatsby. It is a formal dance with dress code and behavior guidelines that are available HERE. Please familiarize your son and his guest (if applicable) with these expectations.

Tickets are being sold this week (April 8-12) in two locations: the switchboard at the administration entrance and in the office of Mr. Dan Kennedy, SJ (Room 002). Tickets are $30, and students may pay by cash, check or credit card.

The Prom and Post-Prom are not lock-in events. Students may come and go as they like. However, no re-admittance is allowed at either Prom or Post-Prom

All guests need to have a Prep student host for the evening, and students from Marian, Mercy or Duchesne need to have a Prep student host them at the dance. Each Prep student is allowed only one guest at the dance.

Omaha Area College Fair – Sunday, April 14

The EducationQuest Foundation is sponsoring the Omaha Area College Fair on Sunday, April 14  from 1-3 p.m. at the Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse on the University of Nebraska Omaha campus. Students can get a barcode for the event HERE and you can view the list of colleges that will be participating HERE.


College Admission Counselors Visiting Prep – April 16-17

College admissions counselors from the following institutions will be visiting with Prep students from April 16-17, and juniors and seniors interested in attending need to notify their teachers in advance that they will be missing class. Students are also responsible for the material covered while they are away from class. All meetings will be held in the College Counseling Office.

Good Friday Walk for Justice and Stations of the Cross - Friday, April 19

Prep students and their families are invited to the annual Good Friday Walk for Justice and Stations of the Cross on Friday, April 19. We start at St. Mary Magdalene Church on 19th and Dodge at 1 p.m. and finish by 2:30 p.m. This event has taken place for many years and is sponsored by several parishes and Omaha’s Catholic high schools. Please join us!


Support the Football Booster Club – Thursday, April 25

Support the football booster club on Thursday, April 25 when you dine at Fuddruckers (7059 Dodge Street) from 4-9 p.m. with your family, friends and other Creighton Prep football fans. When you place your order, be sure to let the Fuddruckers staff member know that you are there to support Creighton Prep football.

The purpose of the football booster club is to promote and support Creighton Prep football teams, players and coaches at all levels in an atmosphere that is consistent with the philosophy of the Prep community. For more information, please contact Molly Sengstock at msengstock@creightonprep.org.

Spaghetti Fundraiser to Benefit Little Jays Football – Sunday, April 28

All are invited to the Spaghetti Fundraiser to Benefit Little Jays Football on Sunday, April 28 from 5-8 p.m. in the commons at Prep. Bring the family and enjoy delicious food, a raffle and fun!

Tickets are $8 per person and $25 per family, payable that night with cash or check, and kids under age five eat free. The commons is located near the west parking lot, just inside the entrance doors adjacent to Memorial Plaza.

Little Jays Football is a program that includes coaching and games of flag football for third-to-sixth-graders and tackle football for fifth-to-eighth-graders each year from August to November. It is a great way for those interested in playing football at Prep to get an introduction to the sport.

Senior Recognition Concert - Tuesday, April 30

On Tuesday, April 30, you are cordially invited to hear the Prep Concert Band at its final home performance of the year, the annual Senior Recognition Concert. This is where senior band members will be recognized for their tremendous work and achievements. The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Sullivan Center and admission is free.


Senior Breakfast – Tuesday, May 7

The senior breakfast for all seniors, their fathers and alumni grandfathers will be held on Tuesday, May 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the Commons, located just inside the main west entrance to the school. All seniors are required to attend, and registration for the event can be completed HERE. Jerry Jurgensen from the Class of 1969 will be the featured speaker.


Alumni Golf Tournament – Monday, May 20

Prep alumni, make sure to mark your calendar now and join us for the 2019 Creighton Prep Alumni Golf Tournament on Monday, May 20 at Shadow Ridge Country Club (1501 South 188 Plaza). This is always a fun day and a good opportunity to practice your game for the summer season! The cost is $115 per player, and that includes the range, a cart, golf, lunch and dinner. Sponsorships at various holes on the course are available for $650.

Summer Camps – May 28-July 31

We are excited to host your boys and girls from grades K through 12 on our campus this summer at a variety of athletic camps and an innovation camp. Click HERE to see the list and review each camp description to learn more about grade levels, dates, times and costs. Registration is divided by grade level so choose the corresponding grade level your student will be entering in the fall of 2019.

Once you have chosen your camps, Register Now to begin the process. You can pay online via PayPal or send a check. Please make checks payable to Creighton Prep and mail to the camp's coach at Prep. Contact your coach for questions about financial assistance.


ArchOmaha Unite – Saturday, June 8

Don’t miss out on ArchOmaha Unite, a once-in-a-lifetime, joy-filled Catholic celebration! Thousands have already reserved their seats. There are specific Youth Sessions for young people, but participants need to register ahead of time at Unite.Archomaha.org.

Varsity Golf Wins Third Consecutive Bellevue West Invitational

Congratulations to the varsity golf team on winning their third consecutive Bellevue West Invitational with a score of 288. Individual play was highlighted by Jake Boor’s victory with a score of 72 and Tommy Slattery’s 84, good for 9th place.


Senior Named to Omaha World-Herald Academic All-State Team

Senior Matthew Muellner was recently named along with eight others to the Omaha World-Herald Academic All-State Team. Way to go, Matthew! Schools were asked to nominate students who scored 1450 or more on the SAT and 32 or more on the ACT. Last May, Matthew was named one of four recipients nationwide of the prestigious Coolidge Scholarship.


Student Athlete Receives Winter Scholar Athlete Award

Congratulations to senior Akol Arop on receiving a 2018-2019 Winter Scholar Athlete Award from the Greater Omaha Sports Committee during a luncheon on Wednesday at the Hilton Omaha downtown. Akol will continue his academic and athletic pursuits at the University of Nebraska, and will play basketball for the Huskers.


Two Sign National Letters of Intent

The Carta Hall of Fame Room was the location on Wednesday morning for a national letter of intent signing ceremony for two Prep seniors. At the event, Spencer Jonas announced that he will attend and play baseball for Rockhurst University, and classmate Luke Waters declared his intention to attend and play soccer at Creighton University. Congratulations, guys!


Track and Field Program Continues Impressive Season

The track and field program continued an impressive season late last week. On Thursday, April 4, the freshman team finished second in a meet at Bellevue West, Leading the way with gold medal performances were Quincy Cervantes, Michael Hart, Joe Kieny, Paul Lampert, Jonah Moore and Ethan Morrow. Just one day later, the varsity team won the Kearney Invitational with first place finishes from Michael Buckley, Leo Burns, Luke Dickas, Kai-El Morman and Grant West. Go, CP!


Get Ready for Graduation at the Jay Mart

Senior parents, graduation ceremonies are next month, and the Jay Mart has some great items to consider for your graduate and his graduation party including CP door signs, CP graduation party signs and alumni T-shirts for the newest Prep alumnus in your family. With your purchase, choose get an Easter egg at the store, filled with a Jay Mart item or offer!

The Jay Mart is located in the Smith Atrium just outside the Heider Center and is open on regular school days from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and for select special events. For any questions or additional information on the Jay Mart, please contact Molly Sengstock at msengstock@creightonprep.org.

2019 Loyola Scholars Nomination Season Open Through Monday, March 11

 The 2019 Loyola Scholars nomination season began on Monday, January 7 and will continue through Monday, March 11. Loyola Scholars is a year-round, three-year academic and leadership achievement program serving middle school 6th-to-8th-grade males in the Omaha metro area who are academically talented, have leadership potential and whose households have significant financial need. 

If you know of any Omaha metro area families with current 5th grade males who might be interested and qualify for the Loyola Scholars program at Prep, please note that their names can be placed in nomination by the student's elementary school principal, teacher, counselor, pastor or director of religious education, or employee of another educational, community-based organization via the nomination form located at www.creightonprep.org/loyolascholars/nomination. Nominations will be accepted through Monday, March 12.

Nominees for Loyola Scholars must meet the following criteria:

  • Student must be a currently enrolled 5th grade male.
  • Household demonstrates significant financial need. (Free and Reduced Lunch qualifier is a good indicator.)
  • Student exhibits good to strong academic ability in class and on standardized tests based on 4th and 5th grade report cards and testing.
  • Student possesses motivation, desire for academic achievement and shows leadership potential.
  • Student is from a family committed to the goal of college preparatory education and faith-centered child development.

Application packets for Loyola Scholars go out after nominations are received, and all nominations and information provided are kept confidential.
