Campus Ministry - Retreats Director

Creighton Prep is currently accepting applications for a full-time position in the Campus Ministry Department as the Retreats Director and part-time theology teacher beginning in August of 2018. The Retreats Director will oversee the Creighton Prep retreats program in addition to teaching two sections of theology.   

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology or Pastoral Ministry with preference given to candidates who have graduate degrees.

  • Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Religious Education or the ability to obtain one.

  • Ability to collaborate with other campus ministers and with Creighton Prep faculty who take a leadership role in the retreats program.    

  • Ability to help in the development of students as retreat leaders and in spiritual ministries.

  • Ability to conduct meetings, foster reflection and lead group prayer and sharing.

  • Demonstrates communication, organizational, interpersonal and relationship skills.    

  • Practicing Catholic with knowledge of Ignatian spirituality.

ToMorrow Labs Director

Creighton Preparatory School is seeking an innovative, highly motivated individual for the ToMorrow Labs Director opening starting in the summer of 2018. The ToMorrow Labs is the school’s brand new innovation space. Interested candidates can find more information here.
Duties include:

  • Teach courses in a 9-12 college preparatory school that may include CAD, coding, circuitry, architecture and robotics.
  • Supervise the ToMorrow Labs and offer learning opportunities after school to both Creighton Prep students as well as outside constituents.
  • Direct and host workshops and camps (on weekends and in the summer) for students around the community.
  • Basic maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC router and mill, circuitry and various microprocessors, laptops, robotics equipment and various shop tools.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Nebraska Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain one).
  • Preferred Master's degree in Industrial Design or a STEAM-related field.
  • Experience with robotics (competitions and classes) is highly desirable.
  • Thorough understanding of STEAM and the maker movement.
  • Expert knowledge of:
    • Revit.
    • OnShape/other 3D printing software.
    • Digital fabrication (including 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately and professionally represent the ToMorrow Labs and Creighton Prep in the wider community.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task with high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be a quick-learner and self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work well with others and be flexible and adaptable.
  • Strong interest in staying current with the latest technological innovations and ability to create and support interest in Creighton Prep students and faculty.

    Director of Loyola Scholars (Middle School Enrichment)

    Creighton Prep is currently accepting applications for a part-time Director of Loyola Scholars beginning in June of 2018.

    The central responsibility of this position is to direct a year-round, three-year academic and leadership achievement program serving middle school 6th-to-8th-grade males from low-income households, supporting Creighton Prep’s strategic action of reaching more families who desire faith-centered college prep education, while enhancing the diversity of the student body. The program is a supplement to each scholar’s regular school program and takes place largely on Saturdays and during the month of June.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a core academic discipline.
    • Graduate degree in education or related field.
    • Proven success in developing and leading educational programs and working with students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • Fluency with spoken and written Spanish.

    Responsibilities:

    • Annually recruit 15 fifth grade males.
    • Run the Summer Institute; 4 weeks of June, Monday through Friday.
    • Run the Saturday Institute; 20 Saturdays during the academic year.
    • Hire, supervise, and support teachers, activity coordinators and student tutors/mentors for the Summer and Saturday Institutes.
    • Maintain the Loyola Scholars budget and finances.
    • Create and conduct morning assemblies, Ignatian faith formation programming, social skills training and leadership building activities based in Christian values, within the purview of Creighton Prep’s mission.
    • Plan and implement family events, meals and celebrations.
    • Communicate with families on a regular basis concerning Loyola Scholars schedule, events and special programming.
    • Communicate with scholars’ elementary school teachers and parents on a consistent basis concerning scholar academic and social progress.
    • Provide coordinated oversight and support for Creighton Prep students who are Loyola Scholars graduates with Creighton Prep staff.

    Hours, Compensation and Benefits:

    • This is a salaried position. Hours vary throughout the year with most of the work taking place on Saturdays and during the month of June.
    • Salary is based on academic background and experience and will be roughly equivalent to half-time pay for a faculty position.

    Director of Communications

    Creighton Prep is searching for a Director of Communication to serve the school’s communications needs. The position will be responsible for developing and implementing all components of strategic communication and marketing plans for Creighton Prep.

    Expertise in messaging, strategic communication planning, and knowledge of various uses and benefits of channels of communication, particularly web and social media channels is critical. Collaboration and the ability to work under tight deadlines and on multiple projects also are prerequisites.  

    The position will work with the President, Principal and VP of Advancement to ensure the Communications Department is working in response to the following areas; strategic communication, external communication, internal communication, media/public relations and web/social media programming. Additionally, this position will ensure all writing deadlines are met, as well as helping to manage our outsourcing relationships and Communications budget.

    Work Performed:

    • Strategic Communications Planning - Develop, execute, and oversee strategic communication activities, including communication calendars, key message, dissemination strategies, and analytics. Serve as speechwriting counselor for president and principal;
    • External Communications - Utilize all available communications mediums to convey information about key appointments, programs, student initiatives, service, successes and other news of interest to channels. Responsible for managing communication planning, content gathering, writing and editing for all print and online communications (email, web, video, and social media);
    • Internal Communications - Develop, execute and oversee internal communications including messages, channels and timing;
    • Media and Public Relations – Develop media relations strategy, relationships and dissemination practices. Coordination will include writing and distributing news releases and pitch stories to appropriate news outlets, creating and maintaining media databases, managing bio databases and faculty experts lists, creating speaker outreach opportunities, executing press conferences, tracking media placements, creating metrics and providing media training;
    • Web and Social Media - Create strategic direction for content for the website and develop a social media strategy and plan for timely and regular communication via social media outlets; ensure content is compelling, fresh, accurate, and represents Creighton Prep in the best light.
    • Manages the overall Creighton Prep Communications budget.

    Additional Responsibilities include:

    • Manage the development, production, and delivery of all communications materials for the Advancement and High School office. Examples include, but are not limited to, the Prep Magazine, Prep Annual Report, brochures, videos, invitations and special letters.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Admissions to develop Enrollment and Admissions materials including content for brochures, email, social media and other means to promote student enrollment at Creighton Prep.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Annual Funds and Director of Alumni Relations,  Director of Events to build awareness, strengthen relationships, and maximize giving to Creighton Prep.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of up-to-date alumni news and other development oriented news content for the Creighton Prep website as well as other social media outlets.
    • Serve as a member of the Crisis Communication Team, handling emergency/crisis communications.
    • Research and develop potential Creighton Prep stories. Maintain close relationships with potential news sources within the school community.
    • Manage and coordinate all Communications related vendor relationships including print, website and creative for the school.
    • Perform other duties and tasks, as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required, a degree in journalism, communications or marketing, preferred.
    • Three to five years successful experience in various communications channels
    • Significant background, no less than three to five years in public or media relations, marketing, or related communications experience.
    • Working knowledge of strategic communication planning a must.
    • Superior verbal, written, editing, communications planning skills and news management required.
    • Ability to lead, supervise and inspire staff and volunteer efforts
    • Solid command of various computer software and social media channels
    • Interest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting Creighton Prep’s priorities through developing excellent relationships with faculty, trustees, volunteers, and the various the administrative teams at Creighton Prep.
    • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
    • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of project management skills
    • Knowledge of information systems applicable to communications assignments such as RaisersEdge and FinalSite or other related platforms.
    • Must be willing to travel on a limited basis and work occasional evenings or weekends
    • Understanding and success in driving results in a collaborative, consensus-driven organization
    • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate activities productively with functions and units outside his/her own sphere of control to ensure successful communication of desired messages
    • Demonstrated creativity and strong verbal and written communication skills; strong proofing and editing skills according to AP style guide; demonstrated expertise in media relations.
    • Demonstrated independent judgment and initiative; ability to exercise leadership, work both independently and as part of a team, attend to details, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to think strategically, plan effectively, and direct and manage projects to maximize staff talent and time.
    • A high level of personal integrity, a demonstrated commitment to high standards and attention to detail, including the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
    • Strength in standard office productivity software (e.g. Microsoft Office programs). Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat expertise a must.
    • Understanding of philanthropy, advancement, and alumni, parent, and constituent engagement.
    • Familiarity with evolving communications technologies, such as interactive social media.

    School Counselor

    The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; familiarity with the goals, objectives, and mission of a Jesuit, college preparatory high school; the ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse student and parent population. The candidate must have knowledge of career development and college planning. Knowledge of standardized testing programs and interpretation of data is also an asset. An ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in school counseling. Strong candidates will also have demonstrated positive social and spiritual mentorship of students in the past.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Handling a full caseload of students (approximately 200 students), made up of approximately one-fifth of the freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors, and directing all aspects of the comprehensive guidance program with each of them individually. This includes (but is not limited to):
      • Coordinating all group and individual meetings with students and families.
      • Delivering the comprehensive Community Period curriculum which includes personal growth and development, prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, an awareness of mental health issues and other developmental tasks.
      • Writing a personal letter of recommendation for seniors, utilizing information from parents, teachers, school records and the students themselves.
      • Providing college lists/pertinent handouts for students regarding specific areas of interest and college choices.
      • Educating students and parents about colleges, the college admissions process, trends, procedures, and testing.
      • Submitting application support documents (via Edocs) for every senior in the fall semester.
      • Assisting students with course selection.
      • Direct handling of any and all situations that arise in the college counseling process.
      • Maintaining regular contact, both verbal and by email, with the student and the parent.
    • Writing and facilitating the Community Period curriculum (and all lesson plans) in cooperation with the other guidance staff.
    • Serving as a liaison between students and college admissions offices as needed.
    • Developing college relationships through attendance at conferences, counselor information meetings and college visits (as approved by the Assistant Principal for Student Support Services).
    • Assisting with the upkeep of the Creighton Prep Guidance Website, Facebook page and Naviance programs.
    • Maintaining membership in the JHSCCA and NACAC.
    • Responding to all phone and email messages within 24 hours.
    • Representing the Guidance Program at parent-teacher conferences and Open House.
    • Serving on committees that are an integral part of the school as determined by the Assistant Principal for Student Support Services.
    • Participating in the student retreat program as directed by the Director of Campus Ministry.
    • Attending workshops and classes that will further professional knowledge and help remain current with programs, policies and practices that meet the needs of students.
    • Becoming part of a team of life-long learners who will serve as a model for our students and will commit to implementing effective school practices.
    • Agree to all other aspects of the Creighton Prep Faculty Handbook.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal for Student Support Services and/or the Principal.

    Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Jesuit education as set forth in Creighton Prep’s mission statement and the “Profile of the Jesuit High School Graduate at Graduation.”
    • A continuously updated Nebraska Teaching Certificate with the secondary school guidance endorsement.
    • Master’s degree in counseling or be working toward a master’s degree, meeting the guidelines stated in the faculty handbook.
    • Capable of working collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Able to communicate clearly with students, parents and administration.
    • Willing to be an important part of updating the vision and continuing the mission of Creighton Preparatory School.
    • Experience in career and college guidance or high school college counseling (at least 3 years) strongly preferred.

    Full-Time Faculty Position – Architecture/CAD

     Creighton Prep is currently accepting applications for a full-time faculty position in the Technology Department as an architecture/CAD teacher beginning in August of 2018.

    Alumni Volunteer Corps for the 2018-2019 Academic Year

    The Alumni Volunteer Corps (AVC) is an opportunity for Creighton Prep graduates who have recently graduated from college to once again become involved in the school. Simply put, it provides them the opportunity to use their gifts to serve within the Prep community over the course of the 2018-2019 academic year.

    It is ideal for Prep grads who would like to do real and meaningful work as teachers, coaches, tutors, etc., helping current Prep students become men of faith, scholarship, leadership and service. A year in the AVC is also a great opportunity for alumni to gain valuable work experience as they discern the next steps in their lives as Men for Others.
