Review the course schedule for each son on PowerSchool. If there are schedule errors, submit a course change request. Counselors will prioritize and attempt to address these requests beginning on August 1.
Review the Book and App Purchasing page for school materials that will be delivered through the school or that need to be purchased by students.
Complete the summer reading book “24th and Glory” before the first day of school. This study guide will help students focus on the important parts of the story. Books were mailed to each student in June. If you don’t have the book, contact the High School Office.
Read over the Student-Parent Handbook with your student.
By July 31, one parent needs to log on to PowerSchool to update student and parent information and complete the handbook agreement. Start by selecting “Annual Update” in the left column under each son's name. By signing the handbook, you are approving the Pandemic Response Plan Addendum that will be emailed to families before August 1. If you have trouble logging on to PowerSchool, contact the High School Office.
Confirm that parent mobile phones are registered with our emergency text notification service by texting "yes" to 68453. It is okay to repeat this process each year if you’re not sure you are registered.
IF the student has a life-threatening condition such as severe asthma, allergies, diabetes or seizures, submit an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) to the Dean of Students Office.
IF the student needs to take prescription medication while at school, complete and return to the Dean of Students Office the Prescription Medication/Authorization to Carry and Self-Administer Form which requires a physician’s signature.
For this year only the Nebraska State Athletic Association (NSAA) has changed the physical exam requirement for students trying out for a NSAA or club sport. Incoming freshmen must have a physical dated May 1, 2020 or later. All sophomores, juniors and seniors who currently have a physical on file from last year (2019-2020) do NOT need a new physical. After your physician completes the physical examination form, return it to the High School Office prior to August 10.
Find your son's locker assignment on PowerSchool a few weeks after schedules are published. Big Brothers will deliver the Prep-required padlocks to freshmen and transfer students. The $5 cost will be charged to the student’s FACTS account.
Purchase your son's parking permit online for $10 if he is going to drive to school. Permits purchased before August 16, 2020 at 6 p.m. will be distributed during community period on August 19, 2020 and can be purchased anytime throughout the year.
- Annual Information Update and Student-Parent Handbook Agreement
By July 31, we ask that one parent update student and parent information so that we can contact you or your son quickly and efficiently, especially in case of an emergency. - Athletics Participation
This year the Nebraska State Athletic Association (NSAA) has changed the physical exam requirement for students trying out for an NSAA or club sport. First Practice on Monday, August 10
Freshmen will meet on August 10 from 2:45 - 4:45 p.m. in the Campus Center and continue through Thursday, August 13.
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors can check the cross country portal for practice times for the week of August 10. The practice schedule will be posted on August 1.
Everyone needs to bring a $5 locker fee on Tuesday, August 11.
Freshman Equipment Checkout and Baseline Concussion Testing on Thursday, July 30, 10 a.m. - Noon
Players should bring $20 to cover the cost of the equipment they will need (including a locker, belt and mouthpiece). Please enter the building through the Heider Center lower doors next to the east parking lot. Checks can be made payable to Creighton Prep.

First Practice - Monday, August 10th, 3-5:30 p.m.
The start time for the first freshman football practice will be announced at equipment checkout, and on the 2020 summer schedule on the football portal for the sophomores, juniors and senior teams. Wear a t-shirt, shorts and football shoes, and plan for three hours of practice time.

JV and Varsity Tryouts Starting Monday, August 10
This is subject to change but as of now, tryouts consisting of drills and a double-elimination tournament will start at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, August 10 at Koch Family Tennis Center, 12440 West Maple Road.

- Book and App Purchasing
Beginning the 2020-21 school year, most courses will utilize digital resources that are compatible with your son’s iPad. Prep’s purchase of these materials in bulk creates significant savings for our families. Charges for these materials will be noted on the textbook buying pages and automatically billed to your FACTS account. Here is a list of the 2020-2021 textbooks and apps.
Here’s how to purchase these items:
Review your son's class schedule in PowerSchool.
Visit our Textbook and App Purchasing page to review course requirements and purchasing options.
Review each course for the teacher's name, the title of the item, and the ISBN of the textbook and the method of purchase (through your FACTS account or through your preferred method of payment).
Purchase books and apps that are not billed through FACTS.
Charges to your FACTS account will be incurred after the six-day course change period at the beginning of the school year. This charge is non-refundable after that point.
For the few remaining hard copies of texts (primarily novels in English), consider waiting to buy or sell until schedules are available in July. Each year there are changes in titles, editions or resources. We don’t want you to purchase something that is no longer in use.

If you are interested in carpooling, please complete the “Carpooling” section of the Annual Update in PowerSchool. Interested families will be contacted in August. Contact the High School Office with questions.
- Class Schedules

Before making any purchases, review the Book and App Purchasing page for items that will be delivered through the school or that need to be purchased by students. Any other required materials will be outlined on the first day of class.
- Emergency Medical Action Plans
If your son has a life-threatening condition or will need to take prescription medication while at school, be sure to provide Prep with medical emergency action plans, authorizations for prescription medications or to carry and self-administer medication prior to each school year or as needed.
These forms are available on the School Documents and Forms page and in the Dean of Students Office. It is the parent’s responsibility to notify the Dean of Students Office if changes occur.

- Emergency Notification
Creighton Prep uses the SchoolMessenger service to notify families about school closures, schedule changes or other urgent updates. These notifications take place through text, voice and email messages. This tool will be even more important this year as we will broadcast any pandemic-related changes to our schedule using our emergency notification system.
Opt-In for New Users
If you are a new user, opt-in for text messages by texting "yes" to 68453.
You will receive a reply text that states, “You are registered to receive aprox 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help.” If you receive an error message instead, it is likely that you must contact your carrier to enable this kind of text messaging.
Opt-In for New Wireless Numbers
Let the High School Office know if you get a new wireless number.
You will receive the following request to opt-in for text messages: "Creighton Prep alerts. Reply Y for aprx 5 msgs/mo. Txt HELP 4 info. Msg&data rates may apply. Visit schoolmessenger.com/tm."
Reply with "Y."
Opt-Out for Discontinuing the Service
To opt-out of all text messages from SchoolMessenger, text "STOP" to the opt-in message.
Although Prep does not charge you for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.

- Jay Mart
We invite all Prep parents and students to check out Creighton Prep and visit the Jay Mart, our school spirit store where 100 percent of the proceeds benefit the faculty, staff and students. The store sells dress code-approved apparel such as quarter-zips along with many other items.
The Jay Mart is located in the Smith Atrium just outside the Heider Center, and hours are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on regular school days. (Hours may change during finals week.) Please park in the west lot and check in at the High School Office desk inside the building's west entrance. The receptionist will direct you from there.

- Lockers & Padlocks
School Lockers & Padlocks
All students will find their individual school locker assignment on PowerSchool a few weeks after class schedules are published.
Freshmen and transfer students are required to purchase a Prep-issued, gray-faced padlock. Big Brothers will deliver the padlocks to freshmen and transfer students and the $5 cost will be charged to the student’s FACTS account. Sophomores, juniors and seniors who do not already have a Prep-issued, gray-faced padlock should purchase one upon return to school.
After classes begin, padlocks will be available for purchase in the Dean of Students Office during school hours.
Locker Room Lockers & Padlocks
School-issued, blue-faced padlocks for locker room lockers are available through your son's coach or P.E. teacher for $5.
- Parking Permits - Online Registration Only
All students who drive to Creighton Prep must register their vehicle(s) with the school and have a parking permit. The cost of a parking permit is $10.
Parking permits are only available for purchase online.
Those purchased by Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 6 p.m. will be available for delivery on August 19, 2020 during community period. For purchases made after August 16, students may pick up permits in the Dean of Students Office.
Each student should know the make, model, color and license plate number of all vehicles that he may drive to school.
Click HERE to register your vehicle(s) with the school and purchase a parking permit. A credit card is required for payment.
Please keep your emailed receipt and bring it with you when picking up your parking permit.

- Picture Order Form for All Students
School pictures for all students will be taken at registration with some changes to properly social distance. Parents can order photos online through Jeremy Johnson Photography.
- Senior Photos and Yearbook Dedication Ads
As your son's last year of high school approaches, we want you to be aware of three important senior photo items.
All seniors will have their shirt-and-tie photo taken for the yearbook at registration on August 17.
All seniors are required to wear a shirt and tie to registration on August 17. Click HERE to learn more about how to properly dress.
You do not need to schedule a senior picture appointment to fulfill senior yearbook requirements.

Yearbook Dedication Ads
The Jay Junior yearbook includes an optional section for parents to write dedications to their graduating sons. Parents are asked to include a photograph to be printed alongside the dedication.
The cost of this service is $60 and all dedications and photos and must be submitted by midnight on December 1, 2020.
Keep checking back for the 2020-2021 link to submit a photo, a dedication and pay with your credit or debit card online.
- Summer Reading Book
The summer reading book for this year is “24th & Glory: The Intersection of Civil Rights and Omaha's Greatest Generation of Athletes.” Students are required to have read the book by the first day of school. This study guide will help students focus on the important parts of the story.
Written by Omaha World-Herald sports writer, Dick Chatelain traces the development of some of the nation’s greatest athletes that grew up right here in Omaha. Through this lens, he also explores the larger issues of the Civil Rights Movement and the story of North Omaha.

- Tracking Academic Performance, Homework and Course Planning
Creighton Prep offers three online resources that help you track your son's academic performance, homework and course planning. Access to these sites requires separate logins with separate usernames and passwords. The school also has an emergency notification service to provide timely information to you through text, email and phone.
PowerSchool for Academic Performance
Access current course grades and specific assignment grades and comments.
Review attendance history including a summary of reasons for absences.
Check discipline history including demerit and JUG totals and obligations owed.

Creighton Prep uses the SchoolMessenger service to notify families about events such as a weather-related school closure or a schedule change that results in an early dismissal. These notifications take place through phone calls, text messages, and emails.

- Yearbook Pickup for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors
Yearbook pick up date and location will be announced after school starts. At that time, all sophomores, juniors and seniors will be able to pick up a free 2020 yearbook. The process for how the Class of 2020 will pick up their yearbooks is still being determined.
