Remembering Fr. George Russell Sullivan, SJ ’62

Please join us for a memorial Mass at St. John’s Parish on Saturday, October 17, 2026 as we gather as a Prep community to remember and celebrate the life of Fr. George Russell Sullivan, SJ ’62, Creighton Prep’s 27th president.

Fr. Sullivan devoted 64 of his 82 years to the Society of Jesus and 51 years to the priesthood. After graduating from Creighton Prep in 1962, he entered the Jesuits, beginning a lifelong commitment to faith, education and service.

His many years of ministry included teaching at Marquette University High School and Creighton Prep, earning a law degree from Creighton University and serving as Prep’s president from 1982 to 1988. He returned to Prep in 2006 as assistant to the president, remaining closely connected to the school until his retirement to the St. Camillus Jesuit Community in 2015.

Fr. Sullivan cherished his many connections to Prep and the people who make up its community. For generations of students, alumni, faculty and families, he was a teacher, mentor, leader and friend.

As we gather to remember Fr. Sullivan, we invite you to join us in prayer for him and for the relatives and friends who continue to mourn his loss.
