Prep’s retreat program has a long tradition, with our annual Freshman Retreat being founded by Fr. Jim Michalski, SJ in 1974. This retreat has been adopted by many other Jesuit schools across the country and has been a life changing event for both the freshmen who experience it and the upperclassmen who lead it.
In addition to the Freshman Retreat, incoming freshmen also participate in the Ignite Retreat, which takes place at the beginning of the school year to build community and to help students gain confidence in their own personal identities, gifts, and talents.
Students have the opportunity to travel to retreat centers outside of Omaha to experience God’s presence in the beauty of nature on the Sophomore Overnight, Pilgrimage, and Junior Encounter Retreats. For many students, the Junior Encounter Retreat is a highlight of their Prep experience as it is a powerful retreat that helps them to deepen their relationship with God and others.
Over 100 juniors and seniors act as retreat leaders each year for our Freshman, Ignite, Sophomore Overnight, Pilgrimage, and Junior Encounter Retreats.
