COMMUNITY SERVICE
Creighton Prep students strive to be men for and with others in a variety of ways: on retreats, through service learning courses, and through our many service oriented clubs and activities.
The Sophomore Faces of Christ Retreat is a highlight for many of our students, as they spend a school day volunteering at the Heart Ministry Center’s food pantry. Through this experience, students live out the command of Jesus that “whatever you do for one of these least brothers and sisters of mine, you do for me.”
Juniors and seniors participate in service-learning courses where they complete service projects at over 35 local service sites. Prep’s Catholic Social Teaching Plus and Arrupe Experience courses are unique in that students are given release time during the school day to complete “service internships” at local schools, food pantries, and assisted living homes.
Prep’s oldest service program is Operation Others, which has provided food assistance to families during Christmas annually since 1967. Prep also offers annual service trips to the Dominican Republic and Rosebud Reservation and a social justice trip to the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice in Washington, D.C.
For more information about the service program please consult the Student-Parent Handbook.
